Weapons
The 33rd Signal Construction Battalion was a work outfit for the Third Army, and not front line troops. Due to this fact, the majority of the Battalion was issued M1 Carbines, with Thompson Submachine Guns being issued to vehicle drivers. However we have historic documentation showing members of the Battalion with every issued American weapon from M1903 Rifle to the M3 Grease Gun. We in the 33rd Signal Constructions Battalion Reenactors prefer that new members acquire and use the M1 Carbine, However we realize that some state and local laws prohibit the ownership of certain types of weapons, so the following list of firearms are acceptable to use in their WW2 configuration. M1 Carbine - Preferred weapon the the 33rd Signal. M1 Thompson Submachine Gun - Issued to Drivers of the Battalion
M1 Garand
- Acceptable weapon to be used by members of the 33rd.
M1903 Rifle - Acceptable weapon to be used by members of the 33rd.
M3 Submachine
Gun-
Not common, but some found their way into the hands of the
troops.
M1911 Pistol - Originally Issued to Officers only, but troops acquired them during the war.
